As with all of the other Cape Cod Baseball League teams, the Orleans
Cardinals team relies heavily on the many volunteers that perform the
numerous tasks, large and small, that make a summer baseball season
successful. From the General Manager, the bookkeeper/business manager,
and the solicitors marketing ads in the annual media guide, to the
folks staffing the Cards' souvenir shop behind home plate during games,
there is a need for anyone willing to give some of their precious time
to help the Cardinals games remain one of the top summer family
entertainment values on the Lower Cape.
The volunteer committee works year 'round on a variety of
details, such as:
Finding host parents for all of the players and coaches
Locating enough jobs in the community for the players
Managing the "Home Plate Shop", the Cardinals' souvenir shop and refreshment stand at Eldredge Park
Organizing the players' and coaches' arrival and departure
and many other small but important items too numerous to mention here
During the season, there are several routines that keep the
committee hopping, among them:
Helping the Cardinals youth baseball camps with morning
check-ins, etc.
Assisting the Home Plate Shop manager with inventory and
sales
Maintaining the daily schedule signs located around town
Helping to "pass the hat' for donations during games
Executing the various fund raisers and raffles at the games
and throughout town
