Red Sox Light Up Scoreboard, Take Game One

The baseball fans in South Yarmouth were treated to eight homers, 33 runs and 42 hits in nine innings of baseball Monday afternoon, and it was the home team YD Red Sox that won 23-10 over the Orleans Firebirds. Firebirds Outlast Whitecaps 5-4 in Ten Innings

The Orleans Firebirds are headed to the East Division Finals. They defeated the Brewster Whitecaps 5-4 in ten innings Sunday afternoon, getting an RBI single from Ronnie Shaeffer (UC Irvine) in the tenth and yet another clutch performance by Marcus Stroman (Duke) in a dramatic finish at Stony Brook Field. Sisto and Selsky Help Firebirds Fend Off Elimination

The Orleans Firebirds had their backs against the wall Saturday night, but delivered a clutch performance in front of their home crowd to win 4-1 and force a deciding Game Three against the Brewster Whitecaps. Matt Sisto (Hawai'i) pitched seven innings and gave up just one run, and Steve Selsky (Arizona) smacked a two-run homer in the sixth inning to break a scoreless tie and lead Orleans to victory. Firebirds Downed 8-2 in Game One at Brewster

The Brewster Whitecaps scored three runs in the first inning, and Matt Larkins (UC Riverside) pitched seven scoreless to lead Brewster to an 8-2 victory over the Orleans Firebirds in the first game of the playoffs Friday afternoon at Stony Brook Field. (More)

Firebirds End Regular Season With 2-2 Tie in Chatham

In their last tune-up before the postseason, the Orleans Firebirds tied the Chatham Anglers 2-2 in a 12-inning marathon, the last game of the regular season. Orleans pulled ahead 2-1 in the top of the sixth and Chatham tied it back up in the bottom half, and neither team scored a run in the next six innings. (More)
