Kyle Smith Named Co-Pitcher of the Week

Orleans, Mass. – The first-place Orleans Cardinals picked up their first weekly honor this season when the Cape Cod Baseball League announced today that RHP Kyle Smith (Kent State) was a co-winner of the Coca Cola Pitcher of the Week Award.  He shared the honor with Cotuit RHP Seth Blair (Arizona State).

Smith had two starts this week, one on July 13^th vs. Bourne and another on July 19^th against Cotuit.  Between the two outings, Smith tossed 14 scoreless innings and picked up a win in both, helping the Cardinals to a current seven-game winning streak.  He allowed just four hits and struck out 12 while walking five.  He is now 3-1 on the season with a 3.86 ERA.

Coca Cola presents a Player and Pitcher of the Week award for each week of the Cape Cod Baseball League regular season.  Smith is the first Cardinals player to be recognized this season with the award.  Orleans leads the league with a 21-9-1 mark and will host the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox at 7:00pm EDT tonight.
